Stradbroke Island/Beach and Offshore fishing.
Why is it so quiet? Only a short ferry crossing
from Brisbane and you can be fishing pristine Pacific surf beaches
for Tailor, Flathead, Dart, Jewfish, Whiting and many more species
within an hour of setting foot on the Jetty. Apart from busy holiday
periods “Straddie” seems to move at a very relaxed
pace considering its proximity to Brisbane. It is an ideal place
to introduce non-fishers to the sport as you need not involve boats
or complicated equipment if you do not want to. However the surf
fishing can satisfy the most ardent beachcaster at certain times
of the year when fish traditionally “run”. There is
also a brilliant competition called “the Straddie Classic” which
is fished over several days and would satisfy all you competition
anglers with amazing prizes on offer.
This sand island is a beautiful place to holiday for the non angler as well with
much to see and do [ it’s one of our favourites ]. Last time we were there
we saw turtles, huge sharks, Manta rays and massive schools of fish all inside
one tiny bay - it was difficult to know who was eating who!
We also arrange offshore trips to suit your preferred style of fishing or let
us arrange a variety of styles for you over a longer period of time.
Accommodation is quite varied on the island and tends to be small scale but we
can usually satisfy your requirements.
