Fishing
in Papua New Guinea
Alright, we know it’s not Australia but
we couldn’t ignore a fishing opportunity like this! Two of
our guides have tried this newly built lodge and agreed it was
outstanding, “Really something special”, was the exact
quote from our guide on Cape York. The chance to fish for Black
and Spot Tailed Bass [members of the Mangrove Jack/ Fingermark]
family which average three to eight kilos with fish to thirty kilos
present, on fly or lure is surely unmissable?
These fish fight
like demons and the guides tell us that the larger fish are not
caught because they head straight for the snags which they live
near. However, these fish are only the icing on the cake as far
as the variety of species on offer are concerned.
The Trevally,
Tuna, Mackerel, Mahi, Wahoo and Barramundi families are all prolific
as well as big game species such as Marlin and Sailfish which make
this a truly great mixed fishery. The accommodation is in a newly
built lodge and due to the remote location it is on a full board
basis.
Please note the fishery is open from April until December
inclusive. We expect huge demand from this tour so early booking
is advised, especially during peak times. Travel to the lodge is
to Port Moresby from Sydney, Brisbane or Cairns within Australia,
and from Japan, Singapore and Manila internationally.
Once at Port
Moresby you will be met and escorted to the domestic terminal for
a short flight to the regional Hoskins airport. You will be met
on arrival and escorted to a resort where you spend the night.
Early the following morning you will be transferred to the fishing
lodge by boat, fishing on the way. If required we can arrange to
charter an aircraft to take you direct to Hoskins.
Bear in mind
that the fishing is so good because of it’s remoteness, if
it was easy to get to, the fishing would not be anything like as
good!
If you would like more information or extra photographs please
e-mail me and I will either e-mail you or phone if you prefer.
Prices start from around £1800
